Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status with his folk-based pop songs most of which were based in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in the love of Colorado and eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's songs for his home state have drawn many to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared that John Denver was by far one of the most well-known performers who embodies Colorado. Denver was the initial Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Denver has been the symbol of Colorado for people all over. Certainly in my travels you come across someone on the opposite part of the globe, or someone of New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the first thing out of their mouth is"Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief time with folk bands which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff had written the song in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version and knew it would become one of the Top 10 hits. He recorded it within a couple of days of playing at Washington D.C. before an crowd that was extremely enthusiastic.
