Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on the 21st of September of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio is an American actor. She is best known for playing Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills respectively in ABC's Lost TV show. Following the divorce of her parents the actress left Worthington, Ohio to live at Los Angeles. In the midst of financial hardship, she got her first role as Rachel's Room's main character the web-based video show Rachel's Room in 2001. The role she played as Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV film Murder in Greenwich in 2002, earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. In 2004 Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost where she was the main cast member for the first two seasons. She was also awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. Grace was dropped from the series in 2005 to focus on the role of a greater part in films, having appeared opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. She was as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 as well as Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. The role was reprised in Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). The actress also appeared in Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is an updated adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace performed the role of Shannon once more in the show's finale and in two additional episodes. In 2013, she appears in Californianation, the sixth season. She portrays Faith, who is a fan and muse of the stars. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. She's the daughter of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), and is older that Jake Gyllenhaal. Her acting career started as a teenager when she appeared in small roles in several films that her father directed. Also, she worked alongside her brother in the 2001 famous film Donnie Darko. The year 2002 saw her starred as a character on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Also, she appeared in Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated to win a Golden Globe Award in both the romantic comedy Sherrybaby (2005) and the love story Secretary (2002). The two films were critically acclaimed. After a string of commercially successful films, like World Trade Center in 2006 she gained greater recognition for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). For her performance as a single mother in Crazy Heart (2009) she got a nomination in the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The subsequent roles she has played include Nanny McPhee, The Big Bang and Hysteria. Her other roles includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013, action thriller) and actors in Frank (2014 Drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) as well as her role as the Kindergarten Teacher. Gyllenhaal began her career as a screenwriter, director and writer in the year 2021, when she wrote and directed The Lost Daughter, a psychological drama. The Lost Daughter. The film received the award for Best Screenplay in The Venice International Film Festival, and was later nominated by the Academy Award.
